I came up with the title Below the Stage because its what i feel underground music is. It is the music that many people may not know about because it is not popular in the mainstream. These artists don’t get the chance to perform in live concerts like many hip-hop artists we know now do, but these artists still tear it up on the mic. Wu-Tang Clan has some serious beats and the lyrics are tight. Jedi Mind Tricks stuff is similar to Wu-Tang Clan and Nas…lyrical monsters. Aesop Rock is a good MC with some intelligent rhymes. The Roots come up with wide range of styles that make their music on point. Dead Prez has some serious beats and raps about political issues which is something i like. They are similar to a group like Public Enemy. Afrika Bambaataa is one of the godfathers of hip-hop so how can’t you have him. And Mos Def has some smooth lyrics that focus on important issues.
